How to upload website files using Microsoft Publisher

To upload files using Microsoft Publisher, you’ll have to start by finding out what version of the program you have. Once you have that information, you can use the guides below to help you.

Publisher 2010

Unfortunately, in this version of Publisher, Microsoft has removed the website design features which would help you create a new site. However, a site you created in Publisher 2007 can be edited, updated, and uploaded through Publisher 2010.

To find out how to do this, check out the details here

Publisher 2007

There are only a few web-publishing resources available in Publisher 2007. This version of Publisher won’t help you if:

  • You want your website to be interactive.
  • You’ll require data validation on the site for things like payments.
  • You might want to make changes to the HTML code later on.

If you don’t think your website will need any of these elements, you can find out more about using Publisher 2007 to create and upload web files here

Publisher 2003

If all you want to do is find out how to upload your web files using Publisher 2003, this article will walk you through that process.

Information You’ll Need for the Upload

Regardless of the version of Publisher you use, you’ll need this information to publish your site via FTP:

  • Website/Server: Your domain name, but without “www”. You may need to use the format ftp://yourdomain.com (replacing “yourdomain.com” with your actual domain name).
  • Username: Your cPanel username.
  • Password: Your current cPanel password.
  • Destination Folder/Directory: The /public_html folder is the base of your domain. More information about it can be found here.
