How to Set Up and Maintain a Photo Album in Gallery
This article will take you step-by-step through the process of installing the powerful open source website photo gallery program Gallery, setting up a photo album, and maintaining it.
Assuming that you've already downloaded Gallery from the Fantastico section of your cPanel control panel (if not, click here for an introductory video about using Fantastico), the very next things to do are:
Upload Gallery to your hosting account using either one of the following:
the cPanel File Manager tool |
your FTP client |
Go to the File Manager in your cPanel control panel and extract the file into the folder where you'd like to keep it |
Now you're ready to install Gallery. To do this:

Create a new database in the section of your cPanel control panel called "MySQL Databases Area" |

Set a Username from that area and add it to the database (free tutorials can be found on the web for creating a database and attaching a new user to it, if needed) |

Type the following URL into your web browser (or, if in the previous step you changed the default name of the folder where you placed Gallery, the path to it): http://yourdomain/gallery3/install/ |
You should now see a Gallery welcome page with a sidebar on the left taking you step-by-step through the process of installing Gallery onto your hosting account. Once you've followed all of the steps, you can move on to creating your first photo gallery.
