HostPapa Founded
Founded in 2006 by tech visionary Jamie Opalchuk, HostPapa, Inc. was born from a simple realization. After managing multiple businesses, Jamie recognized the complexity and high costs of moving operations online. His mission was clear: to create a company dedicated to providing user-friendly hosting and email services to businesses worldwide, with an unwavering commitment to exceptional customer support. Thus, HostPapa was established.
Global Expansion
HostPapa began its international expansion in 2007, launching web hosting and email services in the United States, Canada (French language), and the UK between 2007 and 2008. This global growth continued in 2012-2013, extending services to Australia, Mexico, Europe, New Zealand, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and offering support in English, French, Spanish, and German. HostPapa’s mission remained the same: to deliver secure and reliable hosting services to a global audience, backed by premium customer support.
Product Led Partnerships
HostPapa became an authorized Google Workspace reseller and partnered with SiteLock and CloudFlare to meet its customers’ growing needs.
Acquisition & PROFIT 500 Recognition
For the first time, HostPapa is recognized in the PROFIT 500 as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies, ranking #51st. Additionally, HostPapa acquires WebServe to strengthen its market position.
Product Expansion & Recognition
HostPapa continued to expand its service offerings by becoming an authorized Microsoft Gold Cloud Service provider in the distribution of MS Office365. HostPapa also introduced VPS hosting to service the growing needs of businesses looking for faster hosting. In the same year, HostPapa was again recognized in the Canadian Business and Profit 500 for the second year in a row. HostPapa will go on to receive this prestigious recognition over the next 3 years.
Product Expansion into WordPress
Optimized WordPress Hosting plans were launched to expand HostPapa’s product portfolio and enhance its competitive edge in the hosting market. This initiative was followed by the introduction of a higher tier of Managed WordPress plans in 2022.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Starting in 2019, HostPapa made a number of strategic acquisitions to position itself as a dominant player in the hosting, domain, and security space. This started with acquiring Lunarpages from Add2Net, Inc., which also included its subsidiaries, Santa Barbara Web Hosting and PacificHost.

HostPapa acquired MezzoHost, HostLabs, SecureLive, Canvas Host, Korax, and Data Deposit Box, and added new data centres in California and Amsterdam. These strategic acquisitions aimed to diversify service offerings, integrate new technologies, enhance security features, and solidify HostPapa’s position as a hosting industry leader.
Mergers & Acquisitions
HostPapa continued its expansion by acquiring Silicon Valley Web Hosting, iHost, LFC Hosting, and the website monitoring service UptimeMate.

HostPapa acquired Osiris, WooCart, and Cloud 9 Hosting all in an effort to tap into new market segments and provide more specialized hosting solutions by introducing eCommerce hosting, tailored WooCommerce solutions, and cloud-based services.
Acquisition & Technology Expansion
HostPapa has continued to invest in innovative products and technologies to better serve businesses aiming to stand out and stay competitive in the digital landscape. As part of this commitment, HostPapa completed its most ambitious acquisition to date by acquiring Deluxe Corporation’s web hosting and logo design businesses. This acquisition expanded HostPapa's offerings to include DIY logo creation, directory listings, and reputation management services. Additionally, HostPapa now supports service providers seeking products for wholesale or white-label distribution.
Introduction into AI
HostPapa harnessed the power of Artificial Intelligence, directing significant investments into the core offerings. This strategic move aimed to simplify the process for businesses to establish an online presence, enabling them to maximize the benefits of our product suite more efficiently.
